  William Macnair BA MPhil FRSA
William Macnair is the Managing Director of Black Isle Communications and The Rhetorical Company. Willie was a soldier, leaving as a Lieutenant Colonel, having had extensive command and staff experience, including in an intelligence unit operating in East Germany, in a NATO headquarters and in command of a training unit. Since leaving the Army in 1992, he has worked as a management consultant specialising in communication skills for senior management and key communicators. Willie has a degree in African History and a Master’s in International Relations. He is an occasional writer and broadcaster.

  Andrew Forbes MA MBA
Andrew Forbes joined The Rhetorical Company in 2001. After twelve years as a soldier, he spent 14 years in the financial services sector and, latterly, the investor relations industry where he specialised in programmes for large and small public companies to help manage their communications with shareholders. He was also involved in export consultancy, advising smaller companies on how to communicate effectively with overseas markets. He now specialises in communication skills for senior management and key communicators with an emphasis on group and individual coaching for non-native English speakers. He has a degree in Modern Languages and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

  Gareth Bunn
Gareth Bunn brings experience of the government sector – he was a civil servant for 17 years of his career – as well as the corporate sector having been a Partner in Ernst & Young and a Vice President in Capgemini. He has a strong background in business management and development. He has carried a range of responsibilities at senior levels of Government concerned with Information Technology. He operates as a strategic level consultant and is particularly interested in trusted business advisor capabilities. Gareth is a Trustee of the Youth Music Theatre.

Penny I’Anson has a strong background in small business, setting up and running her own. She has a particular interest in developing personal development plans for all levels of clients. Penny has developed the Know Thyself programme to be most useful for those looking at career change. In her charity work she has been involved with Cancer Research UK for 15 years on an ongoing fund raising campaign.

  Raymond Nelson
Raymond Nelson was in the British Army for 12 years with assignments in many countries before resigning his commission in the rank of Major at the age of 30 when he and his wife then bought Glengorm Estate and Glengorm Castle on the Isle of Mull, Inner Hebrides, turning a somewhat derelict highland estate into a thriving rural business.

While living on Mull, Raymond was chairman of The Scottish Peat and Land Development Association. He was chairman of three other companies and on the board of several others including The Scottish Landowners Federation as well as being active in local affairs. Raymond started Black Isle Communications in Australia in 1993 and has many years experience in the UK and Australia in presentation skills training and consultancy work for key spoken communications events at board and executive level.

  Patrick Mileham  MPhil PhD FCMI FCIPD
Patrick Mileham is a graduate of Cambridge (International Relations)and Lancaster universities (Politics). He served in the British Army before becoming a university reader in corporate management, MBA director and governor. A consultant, researcher and presenter, he concentrates on personal development at board level, Human Resources, and the development of professional standards and leadership in individuals. A well-known author, his co-authored book Transforming Corporate Leadership was published in London (FT 1996) and Beijing (2003). He has experience with commercial companies, government ministries and the public sector, NGOs and not-for-profit organizations, particularly in regard to the development of thinking for the future by senior staff in large organizations.
